Course description

Hardworking IMGs who aim for a competitive score (80+ in the previous scoring system which seems to be equivalent to 431+ in the new scoring system) in the NAC OSCE exam or pass the MCCQE2 typically run into a ceiling because they lack two fundamental catalysts:

  • A specific, reliable, step by step and easy to implement system that can lead to the creation of a solid foundation for their clinical skills and eventually consistently high performance.
  • A knowledgeable and skillful mentor who is accessible, passionate about teaching, strives for excellence, follows the highest standards and is committed to making a difference.

After several years of clinical experience and teaching at a high level in Canada and Iran, passing all the MCC and USMLE exams and helping many IMGs with their exams, I, Dr. Vahid Nilforushan, have developed a system to help IMGs build a strong foundation for their clinical skills in a short period of time and greatly simplify and speed up their preparation for the NAC OSCE, MCCQE2 and other clinical skills exams.

If you have reviewed the lesson 3-1 of my free beginner’s course, you know that when I was preparing for my NAC OSCE exam, I realized that the best option for me was to do the preparation without taking a course.

I knew that the NAC OSCE exam was the most important Canadian medical exam for IMGs, but I doubted whether the courses that were available to me were focusing on the fundamentals and providing a reliable system to satisfy the exam expectations. Also, almost all the courses were of the crash type and expensive.

Therefore, I did the preparation without taking a course. This was a great decision. Although it was very challenging and stressful, it worked very well for me and I have been very happy with my results.

Still, I wish there was a course available to me that could make the preparation easier, faster, more predictable and less stressful.

Over the years, I have realized that many other IMGs have been facing similar challenges and have been looking for non-crash courses that follow a more systematic approach, are cheaper and more organized and can bring more consistent and predictable results.

All these led me to create this fundamental, innovative and easy to follow preparation course. What I am sharing with you in this course is what I have learned the hard way. Now, you have the opportunity to learn them the easy way, save a lot of time, money and energy and most importantly learn how to think systematically and scientifically in clinical encounters.

Learning and applying little tips, tricks and techniques in some key components in your preparation can create drastic changes in your results. My background and my meticulous attention to important details has enabled me to include a lot of these tips, tricks and secretes in this course which can create a big difference.

These have been integrated with up to date medical information that is relevant to the current exam requirements, so this can significantly increase your chances of getting a high score in the NAC OSCE exam or pass the MCCQE2. This translates into a higher chance of getting a position in the medical system of Canada.

You can use this course from the comfort of your home, anywhere in the world and at your desired pace; you can replay all the videos and the contents of the course to solidify your memory. You can access my help and ask any questions you may have about the exam and the course.

To better support you, I have also added live interactive weekly conference calls/online sessions to the course since November 2019. The sessions consist of at least one interaction in a clinical scenario where the attendees get the opportunity to play the role of physician periodically. The weekly sessions aim to provide you with detailed and up to date guidance on how to approach the challenging cases that you may see in the new NAC OSCE and MCCQE2 exams, and provide you with valuable feedback. The sessions are also one of our platforms for connecting you with others who are enrolled in the course, answering your questions, and discussing important topics.

In this course, I am going to take you through a lot of step by step strategies to help you:

  • Handle any real or simulated clinical encounter thoughtfully and effectively.
  • Take a focused history that can satisfy exam expectations.
  • Do a focused physical exam while following the specific considerations required for the Canadian medical exams.
  • Manage your time effectively and satisfy other exam requirements for organizational skills.
  • Meet the exam expectations for communication skills.
  • Learn the most useful English phrases, questions and statements for the patient encounters.
  • Reach a reasonable differential diagnosis and/or diagnosis for different clinical scenarios.
  • Select suitable investigations in different clinical scenarios.
  • Read ECGs and CXRs confidently.
  • Manage patients in an emergency department setting.
  • Handle the cases of counselling effectively.
  • Address patients' concerns in different scenarios.
  • Avoid information overwhelm.
  • Memorize and recall important points for the exam effectively.
  • Become skillful and have the ability to tailor your approach to the clinical problem at hand.
  • Optimize the outcome of your practice sessions with your study partners.
  • Manage your stress.
  • Get your questions answered.

As you can see, this course is based on almost all the competencies that you will be rated for in the NAC OSCE exam. This is one of the reasons that this course will greatly increase your chances of getting a high score in the NAC OSCE exam.

I will help you achieve these objectives by delivering the following course curriculum in the format of pre-recorded videos (more than 16 hours of demonstration and lecture videos) and different types of documents. You should have already completed my free beginner's course to get the maximum benefit from this course.

This course greatly speeds up your learning curve by providing you with a collection of the best strategies and practical tools and skills that you can easily implement in your preparation for the NAC OSCE exam or MCCQE2.

It provides insight and is very useful for real clinical encounters as well. If you practice and apply what you learn, you will see a lot of progress quickly.

However, to lower cost and to avoid information overload, I have not covered areas that you can easily find elsewhere (such as parts of the examiner oral questions and the details of clinical scenarios). Therefore, you need to study those parts from one of the reliable resources introduced in this course in addition to taking this course to advance your knowledge.

In this course, unlike most courses, you will not be overwhelmed with unnecessary discipline based/scenario based and hard to memorize/implement information.

To exactly know what you will get in this course, please see the course curriculum at the bottom of this page.

You will have access to any updates and new lessons that will be added to the course during your subscription as well.

If you have any questions or concerns about this course, you can contact me at [email protected]

Is this course for you?

There are a few steps that you can take before making a decision about taking this course. If you review the first and third modules of my beginner’s course, you will learn whether you need a course at all. You will also learn if it is the right time for you to take the NAC OSCE exam and a course.

If after reviewing those modules, you believe that you need a course at this time, then this course is essential for you unless you are aware of a better system that could create a solid foundation for your clinical skills. The important thing to note is that skipping the fundamentals does not lead to success.

Still, you should be serious about preparation and applying the instructions provided in this course to get the maximum benefit from this course.

As mentioned, you need to use one to two other resources (free or low-cost websites and books) in addition to this course to learn more about parts of the oral questions at the end of the encounters (management) as well as some details of clinical scenarios.

To make this course affordable for everyone, those areas have not been covered in this course yet. Instead of discussing the clinical scenarios which is of little benefit, I provide an opportunity for my students to practice the scenarios with me and receive feedback which is much more useful to their progress. I have created a system to make sure you will get results in these 1-on-1 interactive sessions. You will find more information about these sessions here.

As of Nov. 2019, a live online interactive class for 4 students will be running periodically as well. It includes the downloadable course, fully interactive sessions and live weekly conference calls until your exam. You will find more information about these classes here

To have a better idea about the course, you can review the description above and the course curriculum below. There is a Free Demo of this course above and in the free beginner's course that demonstrates parts of the course and can help you get a sense of the course. You may also want to compare this course with other courses by clicking on "Compare us with others" at the top of this page and using the checklist I have provided in the beginner's course.

In addition, to help you make a more informed decision about this course, I have designed an anonymous self-assessment survey. The survey will help you assess your current level in regard to the preparation for the NAC OSCE exam and in relation to the areas covered in this course. If you are currently undecided about taking this course, you should take this self-assessment survey.

While I have heard of/seen other good courses, what makes Dr. Vahid's course above the rest, is that it prepares you how to think systematically and scientifically rather than spoon feeding common scenarios. It has guided me on the way how to approach, perceive, comprehend, and dissect a clinical scenario. It is an all-encompassing course, from how to prepare yourself mentally for the exam, until how to wrap up an encounter, and the beauty of it is that is not merely for the exam, it is a preparatory class for real-life clinical practice in Canada! Of course Dr. Vahid will give you the plan, the method of thinking, the analysis tools, and how to shape your skills to use such tools, but the student has to immerse himself/herself in this course and tries to fully grasp the enriching materials in it, not an easy task, but when you can fully grasp the concept of how to go through the exam according to Dr. Vahid, your life will be easier! I am writing this while I have just gone through the NAC OSCE exam, and while I do not know my result until the date of this writing, results don't matter, whatever happens, is an individual factor, but what I know is, this course helped me to go through the exam with a piece of mind and heart of steel!
